Woah there! Here we go again: It’s the last day of the week, a day of rest. The one day where you can kick back, relax and enjoy a rare thing – a day of no shite! Well, on here at least…
It’s been a bit of a mad week for the SD team. We released our latest book (Rapunzel) a week ago and are furiously working on the first of our short stories for the Rose Red Rhymes collection. This one is for Halloween, so we’re kinda on a deadline. π and then, well, then, all hell broke loose on Friday night for MWiDP! I am not going to go into what happened here for two reasons:
1. Because it was ridiculous
2. Because it was the biggest load of BULLSHIT I have ever come across and there’s one rule we have here: NO BULLSHIT!
So, moving swiftly on, let’s talk about something interesting, something we all love, something we have in common here on SMoD&L – books.
Right, let me start by saying this (‘cos unlike some I could mention, I tell it like it is and believe in honesty): This book is not my kind of thing.
However…
It has lots of things going for it. The cover for one.
So, I guess there’s no need for me to tell you what this book is about eh? π
For those of you who know Mark and myself, you will be well aware that we met over a Vampire fantasy novel. It’s my first love, it is what I like to write, BUT (and there is one) here’s the weird thing: I hate reading it! I know, I know, Saffi’s strange! Anyho’, s’just the way it is. He without sin and all that…
‘The Silver Cross’ is one of Debra L. Martin’s many books. The girl can write! Oh and here’s another totally crazy concept: She writes with a bloke! Huh? What’s all that about? π They also happen to have quite a cool blog (click on Debra’s name a few steps back) that’s worth checking out.
This book is a tame version of Fifty ShadesΒ – with teeth. If you like fantasy; like things that go bump in the night, like a bit of smut with your e-reader and like boys that bite, then this is for you!
Here’s the blurb:
There are two things Boston detective Lacey Gardner knows about killing vampires. Slicing off a head or a hit directly to the heart are the only surefire ways to kill one. Silver is their Achilles heel. A vampire never wears silver.
When she meets bartender extraordinaire, Damon Harte, her heart does a quick step for the dark hunky guy. She’s learned the hard way that having a love interest in her line of work can be heart-wrenching. She’s kept to herself for years, but something about Damon captivates her and draws her to him. When she learns Damon’s devastating secret, she knows what she has to do: kill the man who has stolen her heart.
It’s got the lot this book. Easy to read, plenty of claret (blood to those of you who don’t watch Eastenders) and a cool cop who has to off her one true love. Oh and it’s a steal at the price!
Want it? Thought you might! So, in true Saffi-style, here’s the linky stuff:
Phew! *wipes sweat from brow and sinks back into chair* I honestly do not know how I do it! π
Stay crap-free my friends, stay crap-free.
Saffi
Saffi,
If you’re weird then I’m weird too… While Vampire fantasy may not be what I love to write but hate to read, I do have my own version (and it’s Teen Romance, generally with some sort of nobility involved…. or at least dreamy hunk and geeky girl).
But sadly, I’m not a vampire reader either… still you worked it true Ban the BS style.
:} Cathryn
Well, we can all be weird together then! At least, weird sans the brown stuff! π
Well and fifty shades sucked I imagine it would be better written. I wrote a funny review on that book because it was so bad.
